I also have had none from cheezeburger. Although my LOLrus set is complete I like to have extras to trade foe new items I do need. This also helps others out.

While you’re at it, think you can make some Failblog exclusive sets? You have four main sections of the Cheezburger network: ICHC, Failblog, Memebase, and TDW (and I guess Know Your Meme, but I’m not sure that counts), but only ICHC and Memebase have their own collectible sets. TDW is still pretty small, so I can see why it doesn’t have its own collectible sets, but Failblog is the section of the Cheezburger network that I most frequently use, so I find it a shame that there are no Failblog sets. Maybe you could make a Kludges set (Wrench/Door Handle, Duct Tape, etc), an Engrish set (Fortune Cookie, FRESH CRAP, etc), a Win set (Mother nature FTW, God Mode, etc) and a Parents set (Advice, TMI, etc).

Thanks for looking into it and listening to our bitching. The only thing I’ll add is that I hope you reconsider the retirement of the PIU set. I’m fine with the having one or two weeks to get one active set idea, but you only gave that set 2 weeks and a few days and it was 1/3 or more of the active sets at the time.
This whole thing reminds me of that great Louis CK bit on being annoyed at airplane wifi not working btw. I immediately feel silly.
Hope they are going to give us the four days worth of collectibles we have all missed out on….or the equivalent in coins???

Really wanna make us happy? .. Okay, well then hear this…
1. Make all the collectibles be up for at least a month. After we complete our own sets, we’d like to help our cheez friends with theirs.
2. Make them ALL EQUAL. That means none of this hard to get elusive collectible that drives ppl crazy. Like the Thermometer, Karot and Turkey fiasco.
3. Put ALL retirees on sale, at a REASONABLE price. Let’s say, maybe 15 or 20 coins. NOT 21. Gimme a break.
LET the new members have a chance to buy the retirees. They want Dr. Tiny Cat too. Make it a WIN WIN for everyone. You’ll still make your money without pissing everyone off. Then that way, we will have a choice to buy, not be “forced”.
4. While we love trading and gifting, we’d like to be more concentrated on on LOLs. That’s right! The site was originally for the LOLs, and we made friends simply because we liked each other’s LOLs. If everyone wasn’t so stressed out in getting their collectibles, they could then relax and enjoy the LOLs like we all used to.
I agree with most of these points and have another suggestion that I think would go well with these ideas:
Allow people to sell their collectibles to each other or back to the ICHC store. That way, it won’t be as big of a deal if you get the same collectible 15 times in a row; you could just sell the extras and use the proceeds to buy some collectibles you actually need.

I would love to see a way to trade in our dozen extra hooman beds and other excess collectibles either for cheezcoins or directly for the collectibles we are missing.

I disagree with the first 3 points. 1 or 2 active sets for a month means everyone will have everything, making it rather pointless. Equal odds will ruin the concept of luck and enjoying getting a rarer collectible (this is why all collectible games and real life collectibles have rarity systems built in.) Putting all retired collectibles on sale would defeat the purpose of retirement in the first place… and it helps figure out when a person started collecting.
I like the concept of having a few days a year where all sets become active though.
I have to agree with Poochie on this. If everyone can get everything then there will be no point to collecting and trading. Please don’t put the retired collectibles on sale.
But there has to be a middle ground here somewhere. 1 week just doesn’t give a lot of time, not only to gather, but to allow others to get extras to trade, too. I think what irks me is the “don’t forget, you can buy coins on our site!” Turning a cute little incentive to visit into a cash grab is rather…irksome to me.
Perhaps to even give a small number of coins per visit. Even 1…gives the incentive to come to the sites, AND allows people to fill in cracks, while still promoting trading.

In need of Swimwear Formal, a few LOLrus, and a few FB Frog collectables. I have a bunch of extras you can choose from so we can make the trades.
Trading in collectibles isn’t gonna work.. I’ve love to trade in the hundred’s to the 1000′s I have of just one collectible.. So you see now why that’s a no-go?
If your only going to have 2 sets active then….. Just increase the time from a week to perhaps 2 per set. Halfway thru a set, release a new one. Now you have a new one still coming out weekly with the old one set to retire in a week. Makes a new one every week coming out and also retiring. but 2 weeks active for each one. I think this is way too many and it will diminish the uniqueness of the whole idea. What works for the ICHC site wouldn’t seem to suit the clientele on the Failblog sites.
Whoever decided to change all of this and didn’t run it first on a development computer to see that it ran properly, needs to be publicly humiliated and then tared and feathered and then finally fired and sent paking with a bad recommendation so any new employer would be forewarned.
Another thing I think would greatly ease the tension around here is if you were to repeat what you did on April Fools Day on the first day of every month: for that one day, bring all past collectible sets out of retirement. That way, more of each collectible will come into play, so more people who need them will get them and more people who have them will get extras that they can then trade or gift to others who need them. The main reason the Dr Tinycat and Thanksgiving Noms sets are so hard to complete is because there is such a finite number of each collectible in each of those sets, so the more users sign up the more these already thin concentrations of collectibles need to be spread out.
Let’s say there were 100 users and 90 Turkeys:
No matter how many people had extra Turkeys at first, how many extras they each had, or how willing they were to share, it would be impossible for everyone to get a Turkey because there would be more users than there were Turkeys floating around. If you were to bring the retired sets out of retirement for a day, that would put many more Turkeys into play and help even out the equation.

I would rather retirees just be on sale all the time. They can still be on sale, without bringing them out of retirement.
However, all the holiday ones can be brought out of retirement during the holidays, instead of making new collectibles to start all over again. That way, even those of us that have completed sets from last year, will just have extras for all the new peeps that signed up after the fact.
So just put them on sale for the reasonable price. I know it’s not THAT hard to do.
I strongly disagree with putting the retireds on sale. It will completely ruin the concept of collecting and trading in the first place. Bring the retireds out once a month or a few times a year would be ok.

It would be nice that everyone has a chance to get the retired sets, so please let the retired collectibles only make a special appearance once or twice a year.

That’s part of the nature of collecting. If the Cheezlords make the retireds available a few times a year the those that don’t have them will have the opportunity to try and get them. If they make the retireds for sale then anyone can just buy them and that isn’t fair for those of us that have worked hard to collect and trade for the ones we have now.

Being on sale does not mean they’re active. They can STILL BE RETIRED and be for sale, for all the newbies, because bringing them out at certain times, are usually bad timing, cause everyone gets paid at different times.

If they’re retired, but still for sale then they are not retired. Retired means you can’t get them anymore. Bringing them ‘out of retirement’ a few times a year would be ok and would give folks a chance to complete their collections. If everyone can get all the collectibles anytime by ‘buying’ them then there is no point in collecting anymore. It’s all about that rare, hard-to-get collectible that makes collecting anything so much fun and so rewarding when you finally do get that elusive piece.

No, there IS a difference between retired and being for sale.
I know that for a fact, because after the Invisible set was retired, they STILL had a coin thingy option to buy from within our own sets. I know this because I bought A BUNCH and filled in a lot of gaps for friends’ sets. AFTER THEY RETIRED.
The sets were retired, meaning that they are not awarded anymore for visiting the sites, but still had a “buy option”.
So YES!! It can be done. Several other of my friends also did the same.
I bought Karots too, and gifted several deserving with those as well.
So that means THEY CAN DO THAT if they want to. Like it’s not hard or anything.
I sent a suggestion to the cheez guys some weeks ago: to allow people that have a single collectible to gift it (no need to have an extra one), because I saw many people that don’t like to collect but have some single “rare” collectibles. This way they could give their unwelcome collectibles to friends that need it ^^
This is a great idea! There are people who get the collectibles just because they visit the site, but they really aren’t interested in collecting. Allowing them to give away their single collectibles is another way for Cheezpeeps to get collectibles without putting the retireds on sale.
I have to agree. Especially when some of the original trolling colelctibles came out there was an uproar because some people just do not want to collect the meme sets but a thoughtful friend gifted one and now they have an incomplete set that they so do not want nor do they want to complete. This way they can get rid of it and the set would disappear from their collections.

At this point the only active collectible set is on the MEMEbase sites. As we continue to explore the technical issues we were having with collectibles as a whole over the last 5 or 6 days and fix the problem we will be adding more ICHC and MEMEbase collectibles.
Wait… You don’t mean that you retired lolrus already, do you? I certainly hope not. I have been to ichc every day since it came out and never got ONE lolrus collectible. Combined with the glitches, if you retire that set I will be extremely disappointed. This is quickly becoming less and less fun.
Yes LOLrus has been retired. The current active set of collectibles is on the MEMEbase sites only. (Bachelor Frog) We will be introducing a new set of MEME and ICHC collectibles on Monday the 11th. These individual sets of collectibles will be available for 1 week and can be collected by visiting 2 ICHC or MEMEbase sites per day.
1 week is not long enough, it might work with an improved trading system but the current gifting method is not good enough considering lots of trading will be needed to complete sets.
For example, how do I know who has a collectible I need to ask them to trade? Some people ask in the comments in this blog, maybe there could be a place to advertise collectibles needed/extras? Without changes, 2 weeks minimum would be needed to allow people to complete a set.
How can LOLrus be retired when no one has been able to get that set for so long?
They lied. They said. “We hear you and your concerns regarding collectibles.”

And then the go and retire the LOLrus set.

How about this change to the gifting system: Make it possible to give collectibles to people who are NOT on your friends list. I have lots of things people here want, but I don’t want to add another 300 friends to do it! I’d just like to help people out, since by this point the only people on my friends list not in possession of some of the collectibles are people who are either not collecting, or who no longer visit ICHC. And I really do not need a baker’s dozen of Ironic Mustaches!
There are several ways to find out who has what. You can find out via your Collectibles page – you need to click on the little gravatars where it says who was recently awarded those. However, since this doesn’t include the person’s name, you have no idea who you’ll end up looking for. And you don’t know if they have extras anyway, until you check their collectibles page.
Another way: Friend request a member called “echopoint.” This is a bulletin board-type account that somebody made where we can post messages so everybody on echopoint’s friends list receives it. I’ve posted wants and offers there a few times, and it’s surprising and gratifying how quickly I got results.
Make a lol asking/offering your collectibles. If you ever see any lols that include the words “Klea’s Trading Post” or “Cheezland Trading Post”, those are mine – ones I’ve made over the past months when I need something or when I have the aforementioned dozen+ Ironic Mustaches to get rid of (still have them, btw).
It bugs me when people friend request me only for the purpose of collecting. If that’s your reason, please just don’t. If we have common interests, enjoy each other’s lols, etc., that’s different. But I will not friend anybody who only wants collectibles, hence my request to be able to give to non-friends list people.
Nice job ICHC, NOT! We really did believe you were going to listen to us. That is why we all posted our feedback, hoping to see at least some of it listened to. We waited patiently while the system was broken for it to be fixed. Now we find that not only did you NOT LISTEN to us, you thumbed your nose at us and said here take that. Too bad so sad. I still do not want to see the retireds be for sale. Retired is retired! BUT you gyped a lot of folks out of some very recent sets (PIU and LOLrus) by retiring them too early. Those should still be available for a while.

The hallmark of a good company is 1) how it responds to customers, 2) how quickly it makes things right, and 3) how well it communicates while the fixing is underway. So far, I’d have to say 0 for 3. So, what happened to “hearing us” and “giving us time”. Here people, you only have a week to collect these but the whole freakin’ system will be down for 6 days (or more). What a crock.
?? Posting this at 5:00 pm PST on 7/8/11 — don’t know what’s going on in Seattle but here in California the LOLrus set is not showing as retired. Not on my page, not on the pages of 20 other users that I checked at random. True, one cannot collect collectibles from any of the ICHC sites, only the MEME sites.
And — intending no disrespect to the Cheezlords and iPhone users — but I don’t have, use, or want an iPhone so I would be FAR more excited about hearing the ICHC collectible snafu has been fixed than learning the world has yet another iPhone application.

Brian, There have been no ICHC collectibles for the last week because again the only active set during the last week is MEMEbase collectibles. if you go to MEMEbase or any of the sites listed under MEMEbase you can get a collectible. We will be launching a NEW set of bot ICHC and MEMEbase collectibles that will be active and collectible for the next 7 days via visiting a ICHC site to get that set and MEMEbase sites to receive the other set.
No one has been able to get LOLrus for a week and now it’s retired???? You don’t hear us at all.

In the mean time starting tomorrow the 11th visit ICHC sites and MEMEbase sites to get the newest sets that will be available. These will be the only sets available from ICHC or MEMEbase at this time so you have 7 days to get 4 separate collectibles.
But, as many of us have told you, 1 week is simply NOT enough. You’re going to tell a long-time supporter (including monetarily) that if I go on vacation for a week or two, oh well, I’m just out of luck?

My quest was to collect one of each collectable for myself and for my BFF. And after a time-consuming wild, no holds-barred adventure, I have done so (except for one elusive and miserable Karot).
And the questions are for YOU to answer:
Question 1: What is the difference between organic and natural foods?
Question 2: Who would win in a power struggle – Vampires or Zombies?
Question 3: Pluto. Will she ever be reinstated as a planet?
These are questions I ask myself periodically and would love someone else’s thoughts.

My answers would be as follows…………
1.Natural food can be pretty much anything as long as no artificial color or flavors are added. Organic is raised with no chemical pesticides or fertilizer.
2. Being as the CDC has a Zombie Apocalypse plan, and no vampire plan. I would consider them the greatest threat and give the edge to the zombies. Plus since zombies do not have living blood the vamps couldn’t hurt them much. Add to that the fact that zombies can hunt the vamps during the day and I would call them the clear winner.
3. I certainly hope so. Being as I spent many , many years learning that Pluto was a planet, I may not live long enough to learn that it is not. My opinion is it never should have been downgraded.

I never usually had a problem with the collectibles until recently and there was no notification of the retiring of some of the new ones only out a week or two, retiring sets during a holiday weekend without prior warning was a terrible call on somebodies part.
Now however, like many, I’m not getting any collectibles at all and I visit daily. I really hope you UN-retire (Re-instate) some of the retired collectibles so we can complete the sets that came and went into retirement far too fast and get the system actually issuing daily collectibles. It’s been 2-3 days now with no collectibles from any site for me.
Please make an announcement when you have this fixed (and when you plan to retire sets!) so we are aware. Thanks.

Wow, this is really awful. I was overseas for three weeks and the only way I could get on the internet was on 3G through my kindle and ICHC loaded so slowly I only went once or twice. Now I’m missing the Picture is Unrelated collectibles (except for the conehead) after having every other set in its entirety (which really pisses me off).
And now I find out we get a single set a week which means I have to spend money to get full collections? I know perfectly well you’re going to keep up that turkey and thermometer crap, and frankly, this whole thing is really turning me off the website.
At first, the collectibles were fun. Then they got a little stressful…and now it just feels like you’re trying to take advantage of us. Not all of us are Apple users, willing to spend $1,000 on an iPad the day it comes out. Some of us are here for the LOLs and the community and you make a lot more money off of us faithful ones than the trendy passersby. Quit biting the hands that feed, okay?

You heard her! Stop the crap and think about keeping up the new sets for a month, and make all retirees for sale. And you need to BRING BACK the Picture Is Unrelated set, cause alot of ppl didn’t get the “Swimwear Formal” because it too, was the same crap BS like the Turkey and Thermometer elusive collectible fiasco.
I know you can do it, cause u did it before when the Invisibles and the NOMs sets first retired, but yet we still had that buy option. That was nice, you know. I help alot of friends.
But as she said, quit the Turkey and Thermometer crap with the “elusive special collectible” BS, and make them all EQUAL. The site is a BIG turn off of me too. I’m seriously thinking of deleting my account after I unload all my extra collectibles.

This has gone past being ridiculous. They “retire” five sets at once. Four of the sets should have been retired long ago, but one had barely started. Then they announce that sets will only be available for one week. Then for the next week they refuse to give you a collectable when you visit the site. Now I can’t even get the trophy for favoriting lols when I have fulfilled the criteria to get it. That’s it. I CALL SHENANIGANS!!!!!!

I went on ICHC every day since lolrus came out and I never got one single collectible from the site… this is silly. You had that set out while there were too many other active sets, and then when the collectibles broke, so that hardly anyone had a chance to collect it…

I really HOPE you’re still working on addressing the problems and our overwhelming dissatisfaction with the “1 week only” to collect.
And I really would have appreciated something that made mention of the continuing glitch such that we still can’t get ICHC collectibles.

UN-retire LOLrus and PROVE to your customers that the ICHC collectibles are now working because right now, I don’t know that you’ve actually fixed the problem that has been glitching the lol system. How do I know that you’re going to activate the new ICHC set on Monday and if that glitches, you’re just going to make us pay for the collectibles.

They didn’t lie. They said …“We hear you and your concerns regarding collectibles.” They never said that they cared about anyone’s opinion or that our opinions wold be taken into consideration. They heard us. They ignored us. They are only interested in making a buck. I give up on collecting. I give up on making more LOLs for them to profit by. I just give up.
I see our posts are now being moderated so that is why the posting order is all out of whack. You knew there would be a lot of negative fallout from chrisw’s post so hence the moderation. I don’t expect this post to even get through, but hopefully someone will at least read it and care.
When the collectibles first came out I thought, meh they’re not so hot. Then as I visited the site everyday and got more of them I found myself “hooked” so I begged, borrowed and traded my way to get all the sets completed. I made a lot of new cheezpals in the process.Now visiting the site everyday is a ritual and as I complete my sets I give away the extras to my cheezpals. It was fun!
It appears that there are quite a few of us that are now “hooked” on collecting and as any good drug dealer would do you yank the rug out from under us. You tell us now we have to get our collectibles in one week or pay for them. WTF!?
ICHC, you have created a whole new version of “crackheads” that have no reasonable way to get their fix. Shame on you! Your cheezpeeps are what keep you in business without us you’re NOTHING!

I don’t think it is going to help with only a week, but I’ll open my collection as a “foodshelf” for extra and missing collectibles. Anything from 2011 forward, if you need it ask politely, if you’ve got an extra throw it over and I’ll make sure it gets a good home. I still think this new system is seriously stupid, but maybe if we all help each other?

Klea, I did finally see your post with the sensible suggestions. I think they finally fixed the blog comments problem. Things were really whacky. I had posts in moderation since Friday and everything was all out of order. If this post successfully nests under yours, Klea, then the system has been fixed.
I still think we need to hear a bit more from chrisw and the Cheezlords, but in the end it is their site and they can do whatever they want. We, however, do not have to visit if we don’t like the changes.
I haz an angry! Collectible fiasco is ridiculous and ICHC handling of the situation is deplorable. Now this blog appears to be borked. Posts are showing up out of order and peep’s comments are being moderated. What is that all about?

I have not received any collectables from the ICHCB sites for the past week (only from Membase). I am really not happy about this. I hope that they will return to giving collectibles as they did in the past. I really enjoy the collectables, yet am still missing some like a few of the ones from Dr. Tiny Cat and the LOLrus Pool Party. If anyone has extras from these series and is willing to trade, please contact me. Thanks!
The main problem I see is this. The “picture is unrelated” set was active along with five older sets that had run forever. The odds of filling that set in a week when all you could get were items from the older sets that you already had a ton of were pretty much nil. Now they retire the lolrus set after a week during which they steadfastly refused ti give out any collectibles from the ICHC pages. I used to really enjoy this site. Now it is just a source of aggravation. This site exists because the users make the lols which fuel it. I think everyone should stop making lols immediately and let them make honchos make them all themselves.
How can you retire the LOLrus set already when the ICHC collectibles haven’t been working for almost a week? I’m trying to be understanding about the new changes, but when you know that a feature hasn’t been working for a week, I think it’s very inconsiderate to retire that set when you know people didn’t have a chance to get it b/c of your error. Please consider this as I know I never got to complete my set b/c of the error and neither did a lot of my friends.
perhaps since the site was so messed up, give the lolrus out for free for a bit? like the two sets that said you could purchase entire set for free, which was probably a mistake. but these were not really given out to most, as the site got messed up…we await your cheeze reply.
Those of us who make captions for pictures are contributing to your cash cow already. You would have no ICHC without us! You don’t need to make it more and more difficult to get collectibles, too,in order to get more and more money from us. I think you are pulling in a lot of money already without wringing it out of us in the form of Coins to buy only little bitty pictures to go on our pages.
When Collectibles began they were fun. We had time to get them all and all of them were G rated. Now in order to get all the Collectibles I must visit sites which I do not like at all.
There are plenty of Kittehs to make into collectibles. You could have one collection of Kittehs or Goggies or Squee for every PG rated set. I can think of many right now…Basement Cat, Ceiling Cat, Monorail Cat, Hovercat, Computer Cats, Cats owning Hoominz, Cats in love and more. There surely could be as many Dog categories, and even a Bunny one.
By contributing LOLz to your site, 41 homepage LOLcats and counting, I think I have given you enough. I won’t pay money for coins, too.
Well, at least I now know why I couldn’t get any LOLrus collectibles.

BTW, why did I get the exact same collectible when I visited two Memebase pages and when I visited two Cheezburger pages? The system is still glitched.
