Retiring Soon: We will be retiring a number of our long lived (out dated) collectibles sets as of Friday the 1st of July. Very Demotivotional, springtime, Photobomb, Taco Cat and Picture is unrelated collectible sets will no longer be available for your collecting pleasure. Don’t forget Cheezburger coins are always available to round out your sets.
We will be introducing new and improved collectibles weekly for your enjoyment and collection of course. These new collectibles will be available for 1 week only by visiting our ICHC, or Memebase sites. After that 1st week if you haven’t completed your set visit us on LOLmart and get yourself some Cheezburger Coins to collect them all.

$6.00 for 50 coins, and the 4th. collectible in a set usually costs 27-30 coins… I think NOT!

The problem I see is that we’re going to have another Turkey situation on our hands. I can understand the Demotivational, springytime, and even Photobomb sets retiring. When it comes to TacoCat that’s still (relatively) new, and the PIU set basically just started (plus it’s harder to get the ‘new’ sets when there were so many ‘old’ ones like Tech Duck and Demotivational). A lot of people can’t afford the coins, and it’s really not fair to them to not have the oportunity to collect because of that. Just my 2 cents.
Agreed! Having only one week to earn 4 collectibles and one always being elusive will mean lots of people will not complete their sets. Definitely another turkey or Dr Tiny Cat situation going on here. Not too many people have extra money to buy coins for the collectibles with the bad economy. This is suppose to be a place to get away from real life for a little while, relax, enjoy the lolz, visit with friends, not get all stressed out because we can’t get our collectibles finished. Plus with it being summer, we want to enjoy the nice weather, take vacations, get away for the weekend, and not be forced to our computer everyday to make sure we earn our collectibles. How about keeping each set for at least 3 weeks before retiring them? And the Picture is Unrelated set being retired Friday- a lot of my friends haven’t earned a single one or have earned a very few, but get plenty of the oldies – not fair to them either.
Hear Hear. Whenever a new set comes out, I get the old ones. It usually takes me at least two weeks to begin to get the new ones.I’ve been on the sites EVERYDAY for months. In the 16 days that the PIU collectibles have been out, I’ve gotten a watermelon cat & two coneheads. I’ve also recieved 6 photobomb, 5 Demotivational & 2 Tech Duck. How about a little more time. Some of the collectibles were around a very long time. Why the rush on this set?
I agree. One week is nowhere near enough time. I also find that I get one or two then get none. The new Frog set has been out for about three days and I only got one and that was yesterday! I am on daily, several times even as I like to trade but noone has got spares to trade as there are not enough to go around. If they want it to last only one week then it should make sure you get them, not other ones you no longer need. Also I dont have the funds to buy coins, I have a boyfriend, two cats a rabbit and myself to feed as well as a house and vehicle to care for. (and before anyone asks I had the pets BEFORE becoming unemployed and love them mroe then life itself). I would rather see the real cats have some love and food then waste all my limited resources on coins to get something that doesnt even really matter that much. Although I do love the collectables we all have other priorities!

I don’t think this has been very well thought out. What about users from Europe who don’t have easy access to the coins? I know there’s a chance that having just one set of collectibles we can find on the site, we can pretty much find them all if we visit ICHC everyday , but what if we’re away for a week and we don’t have access to the sites? We loose one collection and that’s pretty much it. I think you should reconsider changing everything and think more about the users and what they want and not become another one of those websites which are mainly interested in making money.
Could we please have a little more time to collect the Picture Is Unrelated collectibles? None of my friends have extras, and most of us don’t even have full sets. Right now I don’t have extra funds to purchase coins & collectibles and I’m sure there are a lot of people like me on ICHC.
EXACTLY–I’m lucky to have gotten 2 PIU collectibles, thanks to all of the other active Memebase collectibles. This smells like either EPIC FAIL or $$$ to me.

Yeah, this has now become just a revenue generation scheme. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if there’s certain collectibles in the new sets that will never be awarded, and the only way to get them is to buy them.

1 WEEK!!!!! Are you kidding? That is crazy. I have found collectibles to be fun and a way to get to know other users. But I will not be extorted into paying for arrangements of pixels. If you need money find another way to do it. FAIL!
Seconded! For a while at the start, I really enjoyed the collectibles. It was really nice to meet some good people and the “pixels” were cute and fun. Then the memebase sets outnumbered the ichc sets in a blunt attempt to increase traffic to those rarely funny, sometimes disgusting and too often misogynistic sites. Not fun, not worth my time and definitely not worth my money. It’s a shame; it hasn’t even been a year.
Agreed. I come on the site for collectables and to look at the kitties. I dislike memebase as I find it mindless and stupid. Still i go on for collectables but never read them.
They’re trying to dilute the pool of collectibles because you know they’re going to release a 4th of July series tomorrow, and they want to give you a better shot at it.

At first, I agreed with all these comments. In thinking about it, if these collectibles don’t retire quickly, what will be the purpose of trading? If we get all of our collectibles every time, what is there to trade? Are we being hasty? hmmm… ^..^
Awww man, you guys gotta be kidding! What’s that going to do to people like me who travel often with work and what not? There are weeks that I only get to get on the site once or twice in all, and try to catch up on all the pages that I missed in that time. So how am I supposed to collect all 4 collectibles in 2 days?
I think you guys should make the new collectible sets available at least 2 weeks. Or else, make it so that we can get at least 2 collectibles a day by visiting two different sub-sites under a given category (for example, get 1 collectible by visiting 2 pages of LOLCats site and get another collectible by visiting 2 pages of the HotDogs or Squee or whatever else site under the ICHC? category).
Please consider all these protests. Otherwise, by putting such a tight time restraint on this, you are going to make the game less fun for us and have a bunch of people stop collecting these collectibles.

One week sucks, frankly. After 2 weeks of them being out, and me logging in every day, the only reason I even have ONE lolrus collectible is that someone gave me an extra of theirs.
Instead of generating revenue, you’re going to push me into the ‘time to give up on these’ camp.

To me, this seems to be a cynical attempt to persuade people to buy coins so that they can complete sets. It doesn’t affect me as a non-US resident, I couldn’t buy coins even if I wished to do so.
You only released the Picture Is Unrelated set not even two weeks’ ago… How does that get called long lived and out dated???? maybe if we got the PIU items when we visited PIU and not other set items we could have collected them all?
I hope that it is becoming obvious that there are a lot of people displeased with this new development. It should also be apparent that a lot of cheezpeeps are not able to browse the site daily and a lot of others (myself included) enjoy racking up the extras to help them out.
One week is just not enough time. More than a month is too long. Three weeks to a month would be about right. Of course, if it’s just about revenue generation then the fun is gone and you’ve already lost us.

And when you do retire all the sets, PLS to keep them ALL up for sale. Keep sets up for a month, retire and KEEP them for sale for a REASONABLE price. Reasonable is 20 coins for ALL, and equal, as said before.
And not only that, pls to put the old retirees up for sale. Such as Dr. Tiny Cat, the Holiday ones, Toyz, Do Not Want, Invisible, etc…

Please consider what people are saying. One week is simply not long enough. I am usually on several times a day, but have missed out 3 times this past week in getting collectibles, so it was a shock to find out I had TWO days to get SIX of the ones I don’t have.
Well, thanks to some frantic trading, I now have five of the six (yeah, the one I don’t have is the Swimwear Formal – if anyone out there has an extra, I’ve got an extra Bukkit and lots of Taco Cat, etc. ones to trade).
And what’s with the Lolrus Pool Party being Retired on some peoples’ pages but not on others’???
Please do NOT turn this site into just a money-grubbing “gimme” site like so many others out there. There’s a reason I don’t go to Facebook. Please don’t give me a reason not to come here.
People are beginning to wonder if you are changing the rules with the collectibles in order to force more people to buy them. Thereby making it a profit center instead of something we strive to achieve. All in all, it’s a pretty bad decision all around.

Even though those collectibles were up a long time, and people came here everyday…. STILL not everyone was able to snag that 27 coin collectible.
And you forget that there are ALOT of people here under 18 years old that don’t have credit cards and/or Pay Pal accounts. And you only GIVE THEM A WEEK TO EARN THEM?
Sure, sell them after retirement, but be reasonable.

This is NOT fun. I’ve busted my butt to help those in my friend list with many extras, and STILL people are missing stuff.

Another thing is the pricing system on all collectibles. First you only give new users 20 coins to buy a collectible, but yet the lowest price collectible is 21 coins. And then you have collectibles that are now costing 30 coins.
You wanna be fair? Then be fair, and make ALL collectibles EQUAL. That’s right! E-Q-U-A-L. None of this hard to get special collectibles, and stress everyone out because they couldn’t get that elusive Turkey or Thermometer.
And NONE of this teasing with 20 coins, and then making the price for the cheapest 21 coins. Give me a break.

I agree with everyone else, PIU is not “outdated”; I have *tons* of Very Demotivational and Springtime, and I was lucky enough to get a full Taco Cat set (with a couple of extras), but I only have 2 Watermelon Cat and none of the other PIU collectibles.
Like others, I’m not willing to spend money on cheezcoins; I come to the site for fun, I don’t have extra money to spend on it.
Willing to trade with anyone for the other PIU collectibles needed!
By some good fortune, I was able to trade for my PiU set, but my friends still need items. Why can’t that particular set be available for a longer time? It’s barely arrived and had stiff competition from much older sets that are now finally going away. We really do need more time to collect, and I hope you will reconsider retiring PiU.

Yeah I agree with everyone, there will hardly be any complete sets anymore.
It might be OK if there was a better way to trade collectibles so you could get the missing ones rather than relying on friends to give you all their spares which they can’t do.
There could be a separate page to go to where you can offer collectibles and say what you want to receive also. So you could maybe offer 2 current collectibles in exchange for a certain retired collectible for example. This would make it more about trading and more fun.
I’m going to add my voice to those who think that one week is a little tight getting a complete set.
May I suggest – - if you are going to continue with collectible sets for LOL and memebase, alternate them. For example, this Friday you started Bachelor Frog meme, next Friday, start an LOL set and on the following Friday (7/15) retire Bachelor Frog even as you start a different memebase set. That way, each set has twelve days of being the only available set with the first and last days competing with the old/new sets.
If you ever start a FailBlog one, then it can match one of the others or you can stretch the time table out to three weeks.
The possibility of getting the same collectible all 15 days should be very small. I understand some peoples aggrevation since I’ve got something like 12 Baseballs; 12 Broken Vases; 12 Unrolled TP; 10 Straitjackets and so on. I was getting Tulips; Vom Bombs; Any Key and Lawnmowers while trying to get anything with Taco Cat, PIU and LOLrus. I am very fortunate that I have great cheezfriends who are very giving.
How many collectibles can you get in 1 day? I’ve only managed to get 2x a day.

You should announce the exact retirement dates for the sets, so people know exactly how much time they have to either take pot luck or arrange trades.

Retirement looms, and all I got today was ANOTHER Tulip and ANOTHER Celeb Bomb. EPIC FAILURE.
No way! One week is not enough. I agree with Badbonita. Bring out a ICHC set one week, and then a MEMEbase the next. Never bring out 2 at once, and never retire 2 at once. A month is a good amount of time. It sucks to see my cheezfriends not fill their collectibles. I think it is good to only have 1 set running on each family at once, but a week is not enough. For example, I’m about to go away for a week on holidays, meaning I’ll probably miss all of FBF’s collectibles. I think iot’s unfair to retire so many sets at once, particularly with so little warning. I had commitments all day yesterday, so I couldn’t come on. I logged on this morning to find 5 collectible sets about to retire TODAY and paniced messages from friends asking if I could help them find collectibles. I went around to over 200 people’s profiles looking for collectibles for them and myself, and found very, very few, and those few have been promised to other cheezfriends who are also in a panic, because you haven’t given enough time to earn them, in particular the PIU set. For the large majority of people, the internet is not their life and ICHC is not the only website they need to visit. If collectibles are only going to go for a week, not only will we not fill our own sets but we won’t be able to help our friends.
DigitalAngelDonnaDJ, I totally agree with you. I live outside America (and I’m not old enough anyway) so I can’t buy cheezecoins. I have 20 of them sitting in my bank that I can’t use because everything except the Broken Vase was over 20 coins. Please don’t make this site about money – you’re just going to lose people. Give us a chance to earn collectibles, have them open for several weeks. Please reconsider retiring the sets that are not at all outdated, especially the PIU and Taco Cat.
Finally, I know everyone is asking for one, but if you have a spare Swimwear Formal, I need one. I have heaps of collectibles to swap and give. You can have as many Bad Kitteh and Insanity Wolfs as you want, as well. Litereally.

This morning, July 2, I go to ICHC, and what do I get? A BASEBALL GLOVE. That’s right, a RETIRED collectible. WTF?!?!
And that’s only half of it. The other half is that supposedly the new Frog set going to hang around for only a week, so not only did I get something I don’t need, but I’ve been cheated of a rare opportunity to get one of the new set.
As others have said, it really sucks when everybody else is getting new collectibles and I keep getting crap that’s been out for months and that I’ve already gotten a bazillion of.
Allegedly this whole collectible scheme was to foster communication between members — make friends, trade tokens! Well, it’s not. It was a racket to get people to visit ICHC daily, and then they added Memebase collectibles to boost traffic there, too. More usage stats at the ICHC sites = more revenue from advertisers. In addition, the collectibles scheme forces collectors to buy overpriced coins for nonexistent tokens if they want to complete a set.
God, they’ve sure played us for suckers.

As Kwithie said above – your “retired” collectibles (like Springtime, Very Demotivational, Photobomb and TacoCat) are still being given out, and they are stopping everyone from getting the new collectibles and continuing to fill our collections with the “outdated” ones that we already have 14 of. Your coding department gets a big FAIL for moving 4 sets of collectibles to the retired section but still giving them out.

Yep, I’d say something glitched. Visiting membase gave me a Game Controller from FBF but the ICHC site gave a Tulip from the Springtime collection.

Well this might work had it not been July 2nd and both the ICHC and MEMBASE collectibles I received been BOTH RETIRED. I think there is a mutiny about if the collectables are only available for a week, but actually not being given out when they say they are. No need for me to visit everyday anymore that’s for sure. They retired the collectibles even after reading all these comments. Just like any other corporation, they don’t give a crap about what we think or say.
They still COULD have put the retirees up for sale for a REASONABLE price, as I’ve been saying for MONTHS now, but yet, they won’t. We all did appreciate the April Fool’s thing where some ppl got their Turkeys, Karots, and Thermometers. So thank you ICHC for that much.
So no ads will get clicked on, no coins will be bought, and no moar LOLMart items will be bought from meh. And I will Ad Block every ad with my Firefox extension from now on. That’s right! ALL of them, I will right click and block the ad. It’s not even about the money any moar. It’s about the fact they don’t even care what we think, even after 40+ comments.

I noticed the mistake. Has anyone noticed that is has now been fixored? The word ‘sets’ should still be capitalized since it’s part of the title, but it does go to show that the Cheezlords really do read our comments.

Now, if we could get just a bit more of an explanation about the collectible fiasco. Perhaps a little about why they have decided to handle the situation like they did. Also what made them decide to only have two sets available for only one week at a time. Understanding their reasoning may make it easier for us accept their decision.
I’m going to echo the general consensus of what!? No way! That’s never enough time. This is really getting to not be fun anymore.
Also, let me add that a lot of folks seem not to like the memebase collectibles and I imagine that they are going to be more disappointed than the rest of us at there being only one set available at a time when it happens to be a memebase set.
For myself, I’ve already decided that I refuse to buy any collectibles and am honestly considering ceasing to collect them at all from now on.

I think the collectibles thing, besides buying them, allows ICHC to earn more money because this way (collectibles) the site stimulate us to visit more than one page at a day, and I understand they get a small amount of money through AdSense by Google with every visit, and more with every click in the advertising. Remember that the site must reload out account information in order to get the collectibles by visiting the second page? Well, maybe this way they allow the system to count all this visits as different visits and earn more money. And this is artificial.
Well. If anyone else agree with the above or has a better analysis, please feel free to reach Goodle and AdSense and complain, as I just did.

We are working on fixing the glitches (total breakage of system) in the receiving of collectibles and giving you the needed time to get your sets completed and to be receiving the actual sets that are supposed to be active. Please be patient and stay tuned..

I come almost everyday, but what happens when my computer goes down or my network barfs???(it’s happened) I cannot afford to send you money (and I don’t buy things over the innnerwebz anyway if I had moneez!) for a collectible! I love having completed collectible sets! Sigh.
Might be tricky trying to complete a set when for the last four days the ICHC site has not given me a collectible
Same here. I go to ICHC just about every day of the year, I look at everything, I vote, but for the last week I have not gotten a collectible!
Since I am relatively new to this site, I have never understood the purpose of collectibles/coins. I receive “something” whenever I visit the site, and they accumulate; but what do I do with them? Right now, I have more than 200 of these items and have no idea what they are or how they are to be used. If they were negotiable, I could redeem them in for a tee-shirt or a coffee cup. As it is, what good are they?
I don’t know about releasing an iPhone app when we’re clearly still in the dark with what’s going on here. Are we sure that Picture is now retired? Is it another turkey famine then? I made it through the last one with help from trades, but is anyone really willing to trade such an in demand collectible as Swimwear – I talked to a few who are always “holding them for friends” but then their entire account is that way… I’m so confused. I try to give away what I have, but if I only has a short time, do I have to become a hoarder too? I don’t want to be that, I’d like to give away everything I have first. But in the meantime…
I can haz Swimwear? I have retired collectibles from the beginning, all open to sharing until I succumb to the pressure of hoarding too…
I think that it’s very unfair to make such radical changes in the collectible system. I’m retired and on Social Security. We don’t have a shelter in our small county so I have ended up with 21 rescue dogs and the same number of cats plus a colony of feral cats that I feed daily. It’s not easy, but they all eat. I enjoy visiting the ICHC site daily to unwind and laugh at the cute kitties and their captions. It’s a great stress reliever. I only visit the memebase to get the collectibles. I find that at my age I don’t understand the questionable humor of the memebase site and most of it is just vulgar to me! I can’t afford to buy coins when I need that money to do some actual good in the “real” world. I hate to see such an enjoyable site reduced to this level. I’ve met many nice people through this site, but I won’t be trying so hard to get the collectibles any more. You’ve ruined it!
I don’t get it. I haven’t earned a collectible in a week, and when I ask what’s going on, they just say “check the blog. we posted about it there.” Nope. Nothing but this silliness. Why did my collectibles stop collecting. If you say “we hear you” then “hear us”!
I sign in every day and I never collected a single item from “very demotivational” and others. But hey, don’t worry, I have 19 Cheese! I’m supposed to find 4 different collectibles in the same week when I can’t get Taco Cat filled in 30 tries? Bleah.
what day of the week do the new collectibles start? is it a monday thing? and can you buy them only that week, or later? how long if it is later????
You know what I think would be a great addition to the site? A collectible trading platform. There’s so much people obviously getting all sorts of rares ones which others don’t, people that miss quite some old ones. I don’t have a lot of friends (2
) so a platform would be nice instead of having to beg for missing ones.

One week for getting a set going to make a lot of holls in my collection
I guess I need to get some Collectibles friends to be able to comple most sets in the future.
At the moment I can use most of the LOLrus Pool Party set,
and will be REALLY happy to get the Marshmallow Chick from the Bunny Day set.
