We wanted to let you know that we’ve decided to bring back pagination! This means that infinite scroll has been turned off and to view more pages you’ll need to click to the next page. We’ve also brought back the footer, so you’ll have a handy way to view all of Cheezburger’s many sites!

Is there any way to set auto-scroll so that users can turn it on or off in their account settings?
Hi Erica. We don’t have that feature planned to bring back infinite scroll and allow users to be able to turn it back on and off, but if we do, we’ll see if that is something we can add. Thanks!
I was actually getting to like Infinite Scroll, apart from the problem where clicking on a LOL would trigger a # code on the URL.
I’m missing Infinite Scroll already. I’ve seen the same LOL on three pages now because they get pushed down by new LOLs more quickly than I can read them.

The infinite scroll was so useful why would you get rid of it? We should have an option to continue using it if we so choose or increase the amount of pictures and such per page to atleast twice what it is right now.
I loved infinite scroll! If you can make an opt-in feature that would be great!

From the looks of things I was in the minority but I liked the infinite scrolling. I have a lot of pages that I enjoy reading on your site, and I know it’s not much difference, but I did find it easier to get through all those pages when I didn’t have to keep clicking to get to the next page. I agree with Erica that it could have been kept as an option, with users able to disable it (or enable it as the case may be) as they wished.
Call me a cynic, but it looks like the pagination was brought back so that an advert could be added before the header. (And now you’ve got one of those annoying semi-floating headers…)

Ah that explains that. Although I’m not sure why this also have made the comments stop loading under the memes for me :/ (only the Cheezeburger ones though, not the facebook ones.)

I used to love infinite scroll – pressing “J” to go down the list of articles until I caught up with all the new content. I really hope you make it an option again sometime. Paging is all well and good, but unless you implement a keyboard shortcut (like Flickr where Left and Right arrow keys navigate one *page* at a time) you’re now making me reach for the mouse all the time.
Really? That was one of the only parts of the new Cheezburger that I actually liked! What a shame… I agree with Erica, I’d like to be able to control that myself.
Good news! I.S. worked fine on the image macro sites but was a nightmare on Señor Gif.

What..? You’re saying this is an enhancement? Um, no. That was a step backwards. Bring back the infiniscroll. It makes the viewing experience much more pleasurable and makes me want to come back to the site.
Having to click “next” every 7 images makes me want to kick a kitten.
Well, you don’t always get 7 *new* images, particularly if you’ve been on the site for over an hour, or are following a large number of sites…
This is excellent news. I usually scrolled by grabbing the scrollbar at the side (as opposed to constantly mouse wheeling) and it would keep loading and jump all over the place. Especially if I hadn’t caught up in a while and lots to look at. I’d lose my place and couldn’t find it, and couldn’t jump a few pages back to see ones from last week i missed. Infinite scroll seemed like a major annoyance for minor benefit.
However, it would probably be helpful to have more memes per page, as the next button does come around VERY quickly…

My level of pissed at this demotion will vary according to how many times I get an error when I click on a new page.
Bring back the infinte scroll. My cat can’t click on that little buttons…
If you can’t bring back Infinite Scroll, could you make it so that the “J” key activates the “Next” button, and the “K” key activates the “Previous” button?
That would be the best of both worlds — pages for those who want that, and the ability to just keep viewing by hitting the J key to advance the pages.
I meant to have the “H” key activate Next and the “L key activate previous. That way you could still use J and K to move from one post to the next, and H and L to move backwards and forwards through pages.
Infinite scroll is introduced: People screaming about the loss of pages and Cheezburger is ruined forever.

I like having pages rather than infinite scroll.
Scroll is infinitely better than pages. Now I have to go through the god awful slow process of loading up the pictures. yaaay for progress…
At least give us the option.
I wanted to add my 2 cents for the ‘I like infinite scroll’ crowd. In fact, I LOVED it! I’m not a hugely active user but I was savvy enough to see that in the address bar the pages changed automatically, so I could manually put in the page I needed and skip ahead that way if I needed to. Otherwise it was a great way of quickly seeing all of the updates. Really kind of bummed that you took it away and hope that you add it back in as an optional feature eventually, not everyone got their butt kicked or computer broken by this feature!

Okay, so I liked the infinite scroll. Why? Because when you click on the buttons you’re reminded of exactly how much time you’re wasting, counting the pages you’re aimlessly poking through, and have a quantification of how much of your life you’re squandering on this site. I adore Cheezburger, and would rather not be reminded of how little life I have by clicking on page 23 of “After 12″ because I’ve already looked at everything else.
Please bring back infinite scroll i really hate having to move my mouse to click the next button and then move it again so i can see the meme its really annoying because i have a laptop…
And there was MUCH rejoicing in the hmph household!! $:D So nice to be able to scroll down and come to a bottom of the page and have it finish loading and not leap to the next page and shoving stuff of my screen! YAY!!! $:D
Perhaps a manual Infinite Scroll would be more useful, it could work in a similar way to the Comments pages where you click to load more entries.

Infinite scroll is pain for me, it always slows my internet down at some point (actually my web browser but oh well). This is great.
