This week’s Featured User comes to us from the ranks of the honorable royal knighthood, the one and only Sir Nottaguy-Imadad (cue trumpets). This user has been defending the Burger realm since 2009, proving that chivalry isn’t dead even on the Internet.
We’d love to hear the story behind your username!
When my oldest daughter was going through a divorce, her ex had been stalking her through her blog. She decided to blog under a pseudonym. I was planning to start a blog about the same time, so I didn’t want her ex to track her through me. I needed to come up with a pseudonym for myself that she and my other daughter would recognize, but others wouldn’t. When my daughters were young teens, they would bemoan the fact that they were SOOOO ugly. I would lovingly re-assure them that they were beautiful. Then I would tell them that I would know, because I’m a guy. They would shout back “You’re not a guy, you’re a dad!” Since I’ve always been facinated by medieval times, I decided to become a knight known as Sir Nottaguy-Imadad. The rest, they say, is history.
How long have you been a member of the Cheezburger community and what made you want to join?
I’ve been a member since November 1, 2009 (I joined as a birthday present to me). A good friend of mine introduced me to Icanhazcheezburger through his blog. I checked it out and made a few “Unknown” LOLs. I saw one of them later on the Front Page and was determined that anything else I made would have my name on it.
What do you look for in a Cheez friend, and what’s the best way to make a new friend?
I look for someone with similar interests and common friends. When I first started, anyone that favorited a LOL of mine got a friend request.
What is your favorite site on Cheezburger and why?
It has to be LOLcats because cats can be so snarky, you can caption any insult and it fits right in. I also like any of the other sites that involve captioning pictures. I also like Fail Nation & Monday thru Friday.
What is it about Cheezburger that makes you happy?
I love to laugh. There is too much in this world that will drag you down if you let it. A merry heart doeth good like a medicine (Proverbs 17:22).
Tell us something super interesting about yourself—an embarrassing story, a quirky habit, something that will make us laugh!
Many don’t believe it, but I didn’t have running water in my house until I was about 10 (that would be the early 70’s). That facilitated using an outhouse. Which leads to this funny story. Our outhouse (a three holer) sat on railroad ties and the solids were removed with a shovel. We had an Irish Setter/Collie mix that liked to weave between the piles of solids and lay under the outhouse floor where it was cool. One day my aunt, who had given birth to 14 kids with no multiple births, came over to visit. She made a beeline for the outhouse. Moments later we heard her scream and thought there may have been a snake in the outhouse. When asked why she had screamed, she said “Something licked my butt!”. That dog was emerging from it’s netherworld and saw my aunts cheeks hanging down. She just had to give her a big, sloppy kiss on the cheek.
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Cheezburgers?
I would find it difficult to turn down a good bacon cheeseburger. However, being a picky eater as a child, I’d have to say that peanut butter was my favorite food. I never would have survived my youth without it.
If you could create a new feature for Cheezburger members to use on our sites what would it be, and why do we need it?
Where you can see who favorited your LOLs, it say so-and-so favorited 127 of your LOLs. I’d like to be able to see which ones without wading through 160 pages of their favorites. I really get a charge out of people favoriting my LOLs.
What else do you like to do when you’re not on the Internet?
I love to read. I’m at church whenever the door is open, and sometimes when it’s not. I also have several grandkids that look at me as their favorite playmate. I also own a house. That will keep anyone busy.
Where do you often find inspiration for your LOLs? The better question would be “Where DON’T you find inspiration for your LOLs?
I have a five year-old grandaughter that is my muse for LOLspeak. One line jokes make wonderful LOLs when paired with the right picture. Quotes are great. Many pictures write their own caption. I find humor in most everything.
Do you have any favorite vacation spots? Is there somewhere you’ve never been that you’d like to go?
Living in central Ohio, I’m within driving distance to the greatest ride park in the country (Cedar Point) and Ohio is filled with historical sites. We are also only an hour away from the largest Amish community in Ohio. If I could travel to anywhere, I’d love to take a tour of the British Isles.
If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it?
Pay off bills and get a few surgeries set up for my wife and me. There’s also several projects at Castle Nottaguy that we would like to do.
Do you have any animal companions, or have you had any in the past? What is special about them?
We currently have a Rat Terrier named Sparky. He was a rescue from the pound. He is a “Canine minimus maximus”. That’s a small dog that thinks he’s a big dog. He also is responsible for alerting my wife that our infant grandson was choking and that my MIL had fallen. I’ve had dogs around my whole life and have had several cats also.
I raise my flagon of ale to you Sir Nottaguy, thanks for the interview!
Happy Valentine’s day everyone!
