Lol by: AngelAndz
It’s time now for another featured user, and this week we have the lovely AngelAndz here to answer some of our questions and tell us more about herself and her connection to the Cheezburger community!
We’d love to hear the story behind your username!
My username is based on two nicknames that I had when I was in my late teens; I ended up with the first one after some friends in college said that I looked a character called Angel from a soap. A few years later a girl who I met online (always be careful when talking online to strangers, kids) gave me the nickname Andz, short for Andie, which in turn was short for my real name Andrea. Anyway, years later I found myself needing a username for the Internet, so I went with AngelAndz.
How long have you been a member of the Cheezburger community and what made you want to join?
I’ve been a member here since about June 9, 2008. I noticed people sharing lolz on a message board and was greatly amused by captions done in a witty and clever manner. At first I was just a shy viewer from the sidelines, but then I decided join the infamous group of captioners that is Cheezburger, and the rest is a history of almost endless lol making!
What is your favorite site on Cheezburger and why?
Wow! That’s a tough one, I would say it’s a tie between LolCats, Hotdog, and Animal Capshunz. I love how you can have the most adorable animal picture in the world, or one that’s totally random and up the cuteness factor or reveal a funny glimpse into what the world is really like to cats and dogs and other animals.
What do you look for in a Cheez friend, and what’s the best way to make a new friend?
Someone who understands and respects you, appreciates you as a friend despite any differences that you may have, stands by you during the tough times, and isn’t afraid to giggle with you like a ninny for no apparent reason. I’ve met a lot of friends like that in this community and I would definitely not change them for the world.
As for the best way to make new friends here: Being honest and respectful is an important starter in my eyes. The friends you make here are not a group of names on a computer to add to a roster, these are your mentors or your fellow masters of the art of LOL and meme creating, as well as the people who may or may not end up being your best friends for life.
What is it about Cheezburger that makes you happy?
I find that the best thing about Cheezburger is that even if you’re having the worst day ever and you feel like you have an invisible little rain cloud following you everywhere (like in a cartoon), you can go on Cheezburger and end up turning into a giggling laughing smirking ninny. And during that time be able to think to yourself “Bad day? Never heard of them”.
Tell us something super interesting about yourself—an embarrassing story, a quirky habit, something that will make us laugh!
One time when I was visiting my parents, my youngest brother Mark and I decided to take our family dog Sandy (our Marley act-alike in the form of a blonde English labby) for a walk. Simple enough, right? Well, not exactly; Being typical labby, Sandy takes the greatest thrill in every “adventure” and the chance to go for a walk around the countryside where my parents live is the biggest adventure in the world to him. No sooner had we walked out the gate when Sandy suddenly starting running down the hill with me clinging on to his lead for dear life—racing behind him almost ready to take off into the stratosphere like a chubby human kite/flying machine! When I think about how tiny my mum ended up looking in those few seconds that Sandy and I raced like crazy fools down that quiet country road, I’m surprised I didn’t become the first flying human kite ever o_O!
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Cheezburgers?
While I love to eat cheezburgers, the one meal that I would eat for the rest of my life would definitely be an Ulster Fry. It’s the best meal ever to come out of Northern Ireland, despite how unhealthy it can be. If I could eat endless amounts of it without ever gaining weight or risking my health it would be my definite choice.
What else do you like to do when you’re not on the Internet?
Apart from reading, writing, artwork and photography, the main thing that occupies my time offline is my job working with chocolate. I work as a trainee chocolatier for a non-profit, charity-based chocolate factory, Chocolate Memories. Along with making and wrapping chocolates and helping with the official website and Facebook, I help come up with new flavors and sell them to people at special events around the country. I also promote our chocolates to people interested in selling them or ordering them for parties or weddings. It is definitely the best job ever!
