LoL by: beernbiccies

We’re excited to introduce beernbiccies as our Cheezburger Featured User this week! With plenty of wit and charm, beernbiccies has established himself as an important part of our community. Enjoy the interview and have a wonderful Thursday!

We’d love to hear the story behind your username!
I started playing on ICHC in the afternoon, and when searching for a username looked around me and lighted on the nearest items in view—a glass of beer and a plate of savoury biscuits (crackers). The name seemed to write itself, lol!

How long have you been a member of the Cheezburger community and what made you want to join?
I joined ICHC on 7 April 2011. My wife (who had joined several months previously) urged me to do so because she thought I had the kind of mind that would create good Lols—and she thought I would enjoy it. She was right on both counts!

What do you look for in a Cheez friend, and what’s the best way to make a new friend?
I look for cheezfriends who are mature and have the same sort of sense of humour as I do. This is fairly easy to judge by looking at the Lols they make. I am not actively looking for new friends as I have more than I can adequately respond to now. There is a core of about 20 with whom I chat briefly every day or so. If I see someone whose Lols I like a lot, I do make a friend request however.

What is your favorite site on Cheezburger and why?
I have spent most of my time on the Set Phasers to LOL site since it was created. I have always loved science fiction since I was a boy, and I generally try to caption every picture on the lolbuilder at least once. I find it helps me to do so if I know the context of the picture…and I mostly do. I also get tips on new sf series or movies I haven’t already seen from working on the Sci Fi board, so in that sense it helps broaden my horizons. Introduction to the series Alphas is a case in point.

What is it about Cheezburger that makes you happy?
I enjoy the captioning, which is always a challenge. I enjoy making myself and others laugh or smile, and I like getting a laugh out of Lols made by other people. My wife is almost totally bedridden nowadays and the computer and TV are our only true entertainment so it’s nice to know that ICHC is always available for a laugh, a chat or a new Lol. Wish you’d work on the weekends though…lol!

Tell us something super interesting about yourself—an embarrassing story, a quirky habit, something that will make us laugh!
When I was a young Attache at the Australian Embassy in Moscow in the 1960s, I joined the locally-engaged (Russian) embassy staff one evening after work for a celebration. After the usual vodka, brandy, fresh bread, caviar and smoked salmon (traditional celebration snacks there), I offered to drive them home. The wide boulevards in Moscow have a special lane down the middle that is reserved for high party officials and members of the government. There’s a Militia man at every major intersection to make sure no one trespasses. Being totally smashed I thought it would be a good idea to drive down this inviting traffic-free lane, so I did. Being a foreign car, all the Militia men saluted as we sailed by, and we made it home in one piece and in record time. I spent the next week anticipating a stern wigging from the Ambassador and the next 12 months anticipating a blackmail threat from the KGB, but neither ever happened. Is that quirky enough for you, lol?

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Cheezburgers?
Certainly not! It would be a medium-rare Chateaubriand steak with french fries, butter-sauteed mushrooms and a green salad with Roquefort dressing. Accompanied by a 1971 Grange and followed by my own mango ice cream cake with nectarines and passionfruit sauce, followed by a nice double brie, water crackers and a decent port.

If you could create a new feature for Cheezburger members to use on our sites what would it be, and why do we need it?
A feature I have long felt was needed is the ability to edit my own Lols without having to recreate them from scratch. I sometimes find that maybe half an hour after finalising a Lol, I have an inspiration that would greatly improve it. At the moment my only options are to delete the original and start again, or make a completely new lol without deleting the original.

What else do you like to do when you’re not on the Internet?
I’m afraid I’m no longer fit or coordinated enough to do much apart from watch TV and read books and the papers. When I was younger I used to play a lot of tennis and poker. I also was quite good on the guitar (classic and folk) and did a bit of canoeing—you know, the usual stuff.
