Retiring Soon: Also of note, we will be retiring both the “Hipster Kitty” and “Bunny Day” collectible sets next Monday (the 9th). If you haven’t earned them yet, might I suggest begging a friend for one of their extras? And if that doesn’t work, remember that you can always use Cheez Coins to purchase any collectibles before they retire.

I have been on this site since before it came out with the collectibles. At first, I thought it was a great idea. People come onto the site, visit two pages, and get a little cute pic in your collection. Gradually, though, they went from cute, funny, cool or “Aww!” to “What?!?!” or “Ehh…”
I just think that it’s not all that great to ask ICHCr’s to BUY little pics for a “collection”, and then, when you get in too late or miss a day, you can’t even buy it if it’s “retired”! I started to get a little miffed when I missed the Turkey for Thanksgiving. If you’re going to do collectibles, then at least please don’t make them unpleasant to look at at the same time.

Seriously, we are getting new collectibles TOO FAST! Just as soon as one set is complete, here comes another to have to worry about chasing down EVEN MOAR collectibles, instead of just enjoying the LOLz.
The fact that the old collectibles are not for sale, causes alot of folks going into a frenzy chasing down collectibles instead of looking at LOLs. Eventually everyones’ retired colleckshuns are going to be depleted and new folks won’t have a chance to get the older retirees.
I like collectibles as much as anyone else, but I’m irritated that ppl are looking at my collectibles first instead of the LOLs I made.

I agree that people look at collectibles first instead of LOLs, but on the main sites which I visit every day I’ve already seen the LOLs and there’s only 2 or 3 new pages a day so collectibles give me a little bit more to do.
I visit the site everyday and I have no problems getting complete sets so I wouldn’t say they’re coming too fast at all. Every time a new set of collectibles is released I usually only have one of the previous collectibles left to get so actually MORE would make it more challenging. It rewards the people who visit the site most often the most. Having them coming out on what seems to be every Monday now gives me something to look forward to.
Not being able to buy retired collectibles means that the people who have used the site the longest are shown to have the most, and eventually the rarest collectibles; so it’s right that a new user can’t just sign up and get them all.
Then to the people who don’t like some collectibles, you know they’re coming up on page 2, don’t be logged in when you visit and they won’t show up on your profile.
Seriously, can’t we opt out of memebase collectibles? That vombomb is so disgusting and you bet I won’t be collecting this particular set at all.
I agree that they are coming way too fast. Bunny day should not retire for at least a month. It is virtually imposible for cheezfolks to get have to retirees now, let alone in a few months or anything.

I was thinking the same thing. Kinda disappointed that no one else pointed that out.
I’m concerned that with the retirement of “Bunny Day” and “Hipster Kitty” that leaves only 2 collectible sets for LOL and 4 for meme.
Personally, I think the Insanity Wolf set should join the retirees the following week and if you need to introduce another set have it be LOL. Try to keep them balanced.
Of course a Failblog would be interesting although the Sketchy Bunnies was kinda scary…in a pedophile sort of way.
Also (might as well get them all in at the same time) the retired ones should always be available. If you want, make the cost of them be half again as much as during original availability. Discount to original price if you buy the entire set. Gotta agree with the digitalangel – people are friending me just to ask for a retired collectible.
I am also concerned that when I joined, Cheezburger generously gave me 20 coins to start out with – BTW thank you – but with recent collectibles, the cheapest has been 21 coins. You should have one that the new people could buy without having to purchase coins right off the bat.

I want to collect only LOL collectibles. I have no interest in the “Meme” collectibles, or the Meme web pages at all. I want to have the Meme collectible sets removed from my profile completely. Please, make this option available. I dislike them. People who want them, OK, but I find them very unpleasant and a definite corruption of the LOLcat experience. Thank you for any help you can give me.
I started out really against the Memebase collectibles. I wanted the collectibles, but didn’t like the site at all. Still don’t much care for it, but can’t resist collecting. I wish there was some way that you could have your name removed from gifting Meme collectibles. Every time I try to help someone by giving them a handout, I try to make sure they want to collect those sets, but that gets annoying. I don’t want to make anyone mad when I’m only trying to help out, but I have so many extras and no one to give them to. It would be nice if that option was added…then those who do collect/trade the Meme collectibles wouldn’t even have the option of sending them to the ones who opt out.
This is way many collectibles way too fast. I realize you do this to boost traffic, but I’m missing collectibles from about four collections because I keep getting the oldest ones – I have TWELVE human beds and FIFTEEN U Jelly’s!
In the beginning this was fun. Now it’s just getting frustrating because you keep bringing in and eliminating sets so quickly. Do you really want to alienate your fanbase?
Why these need to go on sale, is also because I might have ONE rare/retired collectible that a dozen ppl want at the same time. And of course, I can’t give it to ALL of them. I got DE-friended because I didn’t give someone a collectible they asked for, because I had promised it to to someone else first. So this can be setting some of us up for Friend FAIL.
So how hard would it be to put them on sale? That would take a lot of pressure off of most ppl. The site AGAIN is for teh publishing and enjoying of LOLs. I LOVE the collectibles, but I originally came here for the LOLs, which was the icanhascheezburger cat site. Selling them would bring in more $$$ to help pay for all the bandwidth that these extra things obviously require.

Just wanted to add the request for more LOL based collections! maybe a hot dog or squee set? I do agree that the memebase sets can be a little gross ( vombomb – yech) but- i’m addicted so keep visiting anyway! if there was a way for friends who DONT collect to opt out — or for us to remove names on our gift lists who don’t collect – that would be nice. I keep gifting my peeps who don’t really collect cause they are showing as missing the collectables.
Is there any purpose behind these collectibles?
To me it seems to be a ridiculous waste of time, and I can see no use in buying any “coins” at LOLmart to complete these sets just for the sake of having them if they have no actual purpose.
If you need money to keep the network going just be honest an beg like everybody else does.

i love very much the collectibles and the idea of getting new sets very often is something i really enjoy! i respect the thoughts about people getting mad with collectibles and all the situations regarding the main reason of the site, which are the LOLz…but yet i say in my opinion…. none of this prevents visitors of seeing, enjoying and laughing a lot with LoLz! collecting lil figures, which we all call “collectibles”, is not a reason to miss the LOLz…it’s quite possible to enjoy them all…all at the same time…why not?!? all together…the LOLz and the collectibles

how come I am getting old collectibles instead of new ones. Today I got Tech Imp. Duck and a Bad Kitteh collectible. I thought these were finished (though not quite ‘retired’). I have been to Photobomb pages and never got the Photobomb collectible. Guess I’m still new here and still don’t understand how this works. Pleaz to explane: How does this work? I wonder if you are delaying releasing new collections because you are buying trying to write in an “opt out” for collectibles for those who don’t like them?
It must be hard trying to please all of the people all of the time…maybe just let us know here what you are planning?
The small number of people who are actually complaining seem to have spoilt it for everyone. It’s getting frustrating checking for new ones; I hope some sort of lolcat collection is released soon to stop the ungrateful comments.
Maybe there could be some sort of interactive trading center where you can go and make your collectibles available for trading. That way you can manage what deals you make with people and which sets you collect.
